About Docupath & IDP
5 questions
What is Docupath?
Docupath is an AI-native document intelligence platform, the category often called intelligent document processing (IDP). It transforms business documents such as invoices, purchase orders, and contracts into validated, structured, and system-ready data. Rather than relying on templates or a single model, Docupath reads, interprets, verifies, and validates each document using a multi-model architecture called the AI Model Garden, with a human-in-the-loop workflow where AI proposes and people confirm.
What is intelligent document processing (IDP)?
Intelligent document processing is the software category for AI-driven understanding of business documents, the successor to OCR-based capture. IDP reads a document's meaning, structure, and context, then validates and structures the data for downstream systems like your ERP. Docupath is an AI-native document intelligence platform built on this approach.
How is Docupath different from traditional OCR?
OCR was made to read. Docupath was made to understand. Traditional OCR converts images of text into characters, but it cannot grasp meaning, structure, or context. Docupath reads, interprets, verifies, and validates each document, applies your business logic, and flags anything uncertain for review. The output is not extracted text. It is validated, structured, system-ready data.
Why not use ChatGPT or a single AI model to read my documents?
A single general-purpose model can extract fields, but it has no built-in validation, so errors and inconsistencies pass through unchecked. Docupath's AI Model Garden combines multiple specialised models with deterministic checks, cross-checks their results, and keeps a human in the loop. You get validated, system-ready data you can trust downstream, not raw output.
What is human-in-the-loop review?
Human-in-the-loop means AI proposes the data while authorized people review, correct, and approve or reject it. Every field links back to its exact location in the source document, and every edit is logged. It is how Docupath keeps automation fast while keeping accuracy and a complete audit trail intact.
Documents & Formats
5 questions
What types of documents can Docupath process?
Docupath handles financial documents (invoices, legal invoices, bank statements, quotes, receipts, freight invoices), procurement documents (purchase orders, consignment orders), legal documents (contracts, NDAs, partnership agreements, execution records), healthcare records, and HR forms. Because it reads and interprets documents rather than matching templates, it also handles new layouts and variations within each type.
What file formats does Docupath support?
Docupath accepts PDF, Word (DOCX and DOC), Excel (XLSX and XLS), XML, HTML, plain text, and image formats including JPG, PNG, TIFF, and HEIC. Documents can arrive by web upload, email, API, or the Pathfinder mobile app.
What if my document type isn't listed?
Docupath is not limited to fixed templates, so it often handles document types beyond the standard list. If you have a type or layout you do not see, contact the team. New types and fields can be configured, and you can define custom logic in plain-English Instruction Builds.
Can Docupath handle large or high-volume documents?
Yes. A single document can be up to 50 MB and 150 pages, with up to 500 line items, and you can upload up to 100 documents in one batch. For trusted, high-confidence documents, optional Straight-Through Processing approves them automatically and routes anything unusual to a reviewer.
Does Docupath support multiple languages?
Yes. Docupath's language and vision models read documents across many languages, and its localization rules apply region-specific formatting for dates, currencies, and tax identifiers automatically.
Accuracy & AI
3 questions
How accurate is Docupath?
Accuracy depends on document quality and configuration, and Docupath measures it openly: the share of AI-proposed fields accepted without correction, shown in your Usage Insights dashboard. The multi-model architecture, deterministic cross-checks, and human review work together to keep accuracy high and improve it as the system learns your documents.
How does Docupath prevent AI hallucinations?
Through several layers. Deterministic algorithms recompute values like totals and tax, then cross-check them against the AI's output. Multiple models audit each other's results. Confidence scoring flags uncertain fields, and any low-confidence or rule-violating document routes to a human reviewer. The AI never has the final word unchecked.
Does Docupath train its AI on my documents?
No. Docupath adapts to your needs through In-Context Engineering: your instructions are applied at processing time, without retraining or fine-tuning models on your data. Changes take effect on the very next document, and your documents stay inside your isolated tenant.
Security & Privacy
4 questions
Is my data secure with Docupath?
Yes. Every customer runs in a fully isolated tenant, so your data is never visible to another. All stored data, including documents, field data, configuration, and audit logs, is encrypted at rest, and every action is recorded in a full audit trail. Docupath is ISO 27001 certified.
Where is my data hosted, and is Docupath GDPR compliant?
Docupath is GDPR aligned through region-aligned storage. Tenants are provisioned in either the EU or US region, and documents and records stay in that region. Data is hosted on AWS infrastructure and encrypted at rest.
What compliance certifications does Docupath have?
Docupath is ISO 27001 certified and GDPR aligned. Region-aligned storage is provided with encryption at rest. Access controls and audit logging are maintained to support privacy regulations such as GDPR. If you want to confirm the current status of a specific certification or request a security review, please contact the team.
Who can access my documents inside my organization?
Access is controlled by role-based permissions (Admin, Manager, Reviewer, Validator, or custom roles) and by organization mapping, so users see only the documents they are assigned. Sign-in uses single sign-on through Google or Microsoft, and every login and change is recorded in the audit log.
Integrations
3 questions
Does Docupath integrate with my ERP, CRM, or other systems?
Yes. Docupath acts as the control layer between your documents and your core systems, delivering validated, structured data to ERPs, CRMs, EDI gateways, and data lakes. Data Export Templates map fields to the exact schema your system expects, with no custom integration code, and a REST API with webhooks lets you push and pull documents programmatically.
How does data get out of Docupath?
You configure a destination format, such as XML or JSON, and an export template that matches your target system's schema. Approved documents are delivered automatically over the API, and acknowledgment callbacks confirm receipt. You can preview the exact output for any document before it is sent.
Does Docupath have an API?
Yes. Docupath offers a versioned REST API over HTTPS for submitting documents, checking status, and receiving webhook updates, secured with OAuth 2.0. It is how teams connect Docupath to ERP, EDI, and RPA systems for hands-off ingestion and delivery.
Getting Started
2 questions
How long does implementation take?
Because Docupath is configured rather than custom-built, teams are typically live and processing documents quickly. Setup covers your organizations, trading parties, business rules, and export templates. Because Instruction Builds use plain English, changes go live on the next document with no deployment.
Can I see a demo or try Docupath?
Yes. Book a live demo and the team will show Docupath reading, validating, and structuring your own document types, and answer your questions directly.
