Role Description

We are seeking a deeply curious, AI-first Senior Frontend Engineer to join our team on-site in Colombo, Sri Lanka. In this role, you will design and build the mission-critical interfaces our customers use every day to review, validate, and approve document data on our AI-native platform.

What You’ll Work On

As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will contribute ideas, architecture, and engineering culture while working closely with product, design, backend engineering, and leadership:

• Design and Build Core Applications: Build complex, data-heavy web applications in React and JavaScript (JSX), and help spearhead the migration of our codebase to TypeScript.
• Develop AI-Native Interfaces: Create rich, interactive user experiences such as our dual-pane review screen, document queue, rule builders, and interfaces that surface AI confidence scores and explainability.
• Frontend Architecture & Systems: Architect scalable component structures, state management, routing, and performance optimization while co-owning our shared component library and design system.
• API & Real-time Integration: Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate REST APIs and real-time updates seamlessly.
• End-to-End Ownership & Quality: Own features throughout their entire lifecycle, from design and testing to deployment and monitoring, while maintaining high standards for performance, accessibility (WCAG), and automated testing (unit, component, and E2E).

What You Bring

Core Engineering & Technical Skills

• Deep Fundamentals: Strong mastery of JavaScript (ES6+), modern React, the browser DOM, and web performance optimization.
• Proven Experience: 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 5+ years building and shipping production-grade frontends.
• Modern Tooling & TypeScript: Hands-on experience with TypeScript, build tools like Vite, and state/data libraries such as TanStack Query and Zustand.
• Data-Intensive UI: Proven track record building complex UIs (e.g., large data tables, virtualized lists, PDF/document viewers, complex forms).
• Styling & Testing: Proficiency in HTML/CSS, component libraries (like MUI) paired with Tailwind or CSS-in-JS, and automated testing tools (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright).

• AI-First Curiosity: Enthusiasm for exploring AI-assisted developer workflows and designing intuitive UX for human-in-the-loop AI systems.
• Problem Solver: High autonomy, an eye for UI/UX detail, and a pragmatic approach to balancing user experience, performance, and code maintainability.
• Language Requirement: Fluent English communication skills are a requirement for this role.

Bonus Points

• Experience building design systems, working with canvas/PDF.js/annotation tools, or multi-tenant frontends.
• Familiarity with AWS, CI/CD pipelines, or internationalization (i18n).
• Background in document processing, OCR, or data extraction workflows.
